Every city has il mercato: the market. You go there to buy shoes, clothing, kitchen supplies…you name it, you will find it! I go there to cheese shop.Smile

On Thursday it is mercato day and we drive to the center of town to buy some things for lunch that day. As you glance through these photos, you know it is mostly glorious Italian FORMAGGIO! CHEESE.Smile

As my senses were overloaded from all of these wondrous cheeses, I turned a corner and saw this beautiful church from the 5th century. In the middle of the hustle and bustle of people bargaining for their purchases was this quiet and humble church.

The most popular place at the mercato is where they sell the roasted chicken! Moms tired from shopping all morning don’t need to worry about making a sauce and cooking pasta. They pick a delicious roasted chicken, they have their cheese, fresh fruit, and bread. Lunch is effortless and delicious!Smile

Maybe if you had passed out in front of the cheese, they would have felt sorry for you and revived you with some. So jealous, hope you are having fun.

I love European markets and wish we had them here. There are markets in the big cities but only a weekend farmers market where I live and always outside of town. Thanks for a peek at your mercato!
